India launches Operation Sindoor, strikes militant camps in Pakistan-administered Kashmir

In late April 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor, a military operation targeting militant training camps in Pakistani-administered Kashmir across the Line of Control. The strikes were in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people on April 22. According to the Associated Press, India fired missiles into Pakistani-controlled territory, killing at least 26, and Pakistan's leader condemned the strikes as an act of war. Subsequent reports indicate the operation also targeted Jaish-e-Mohammed's headquarters in Bahawalpur, which was later rebuilt.
