Cambodia rejects Thai claim over Ta Krabei temple after krama flag scarf incident

OCCURRED Jul 6 · 12:00 UTCRECORDED 2026-09-03T19:29:06.718Zfact_djtcqw7vz9
On 6 July 2025, Cambodia's Ministry of National Defence issued a statement firmly rejecting claims that Ta Krabei Temple lies within Thailand, saying Thai soldiers had prohibited Cambodian civilians from wearing the krama, the traditional Khmer scarf, stitched with the Cambodian national flag, while Thai visitors displayed their flag openly. The ministry said the temple on Dang Rek Mountain in Oddar Meanchey lies entirely within Cambodian territory, and urged Thailand to bring the Ta Moan Thom, Ta Moan Toch and Ta Krabei cases jointly before the International Court of Justice.
